Skin Care Tips

Skin Care Tips

Doll faces! Here are some important skin care tips to help you out this winter!

1. Moisturize: Dry skin is very profound during these Winter months so you always want to make sure that the skin on your body and face is moisturized most of the time. Too much moisturizing can lead to breakouts though, so when applying a lotion to your face you want to find one with a little dosage of salicylic acid so that it protects from pimples. I use Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer which is both oil-free and contains salicylic acid.

2. Green Veggies: Greens are packed with antioxidants that keep the skin healthy and clear. If you're not a big fan of Spinach like I am, try mixing it in subtlety with other foods. I love to put it in my omelets!

3. Sunscreen: Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! I never knew it before, but sunscreen is sooooo important for your skin. Of course, we all apply it when we hit up the beach (hopefully) but believe it or not, you should be applying sunscreen to at least your face every time you go outside. Sun rays are more powerful than you think, and if you have dark marks and post-acne scars the sun definitely does not help to clear them up. Try to remember to at least use a moisturizer with spf 10.

4. Clean Phone!: This tip is probably going to be the most difficult to remember but it is very crucial to having a nice, clear face. When you spend hours talking on the phone and your phone is right by your face, the oil from your pores are being transferred to your phone which creates build-up. Try cleaning your phone with a Wet-One wipe after those long hours of chatting.

5. Fish, Fruit and Oils: Fish, fruit, vegetables, olive oil and tea are filled with omega fatty acids to help keep a healthy glow and reverse skin damage. Try to incorporate these foods into your diet at least twice a week.

6. Milk Bath: I've actually tried this one before and it works wonders. Next time you want to relax and have a nice soothing bath, forget the bubbles and try adding a cup of milk to your water. Milk has lactic acid which is a natural skin softener.

7. Clean Makeup Brushes: This tip is sooooo important! When you constantly apply makeup to your makeup brushes, you're putting new product on old product, not to mention oil from the pores on your face. This creates product build-up which can be very gross and can actually cause infection. Please invest in a makeup brush cleanser or just plain baby shampoo can do the trick. I love to use my Philosophy Purity face wash which has a makeup remover in it. Try and do this at least once every 2 weeks depending on how much makeup you use weekly.

8. Always Remove Makeup: Last but not least, always remember to take your makeup off before you go to sleep. Makeup build-up on your pillows can again, create clogged pores or even infection. Even when you're really tired, you need to at least try and remember to use a makeup wipe to take off as much makeup as you can.
